Step-by-Step Arya Samaj Marriage Procedure!

  • Step 1: Arranging all the following documents—
      • Age proof document in which a girl should be 18yrs or above and a Boy should be 21yrs or above.
      • Address Proof Document
      • Six Passport size photographs of the bride and groom
      • The Marriage invitation card
      • One-one passport size photograph of the three eyewitnesses
      • Identity and address proof document of each of the eyewitnesses.
      • Affidavits stating that both the marrying parties are not related to each other within the degree of any prohibited relationship
      • Copy of spouse death certificate in case if the bride or groom is widow/ widower 
      • Copy of divorce decree in case if either from the bride or groom is a divorcee.
  • Step 2: Booking of an appointment in the nearby Arya Samaj Mandir 
  • Step 3: Collecting the appointment letter from the Arya Samaj Mandir Marriage
  • Step 4: Performing pre-Arya Samaj Wedding rituals, i.e.,
      • Sangeet Ceremony—Dance performances are conducted on Traditional songs to celebrate a new beginning.
      • Haldi and Mehndi Ceremony— Turmeric and sandalwood applied on the bride’s body as a traditional purification ritual. Following that, Heena (Mehndi) is applied on the bride’s palms and feet.
      • Bramhabhoj Ceremony—On the Wedding morning, Brahmins are feasted in both the bride’s and the groom’s home.
      • Chuda and Nath ceremony—Along with that, Chuda and Nath ceremony is performed in which the bride’s uncle gifts her a set of twenty-one (auspicious number of) bangles.
  • Step 5: Solemnization of Arya Samaj Wedding following these rituals—
      • Varmala
      • Yagna or Havan
      • Kanyadaan
      • A total of 4 Phere or Parikrama of the Holy Fire for solemnizing Arya Samaj Marriage. Note: The following are the “Pheras” that signifies the four main aims of life, i.e., Dharma (signifies the spirit of righteousness to follow religion devoutly), Artha (signifies right path for earning wealth and livelihood), Kama (signifies the love and devotion among couples) and Moksha (signifies liberation from suffering).
      • Saptapadi, i.e., seven steps signifying “health, good luck, strength, love, wealth, food, and offspring” that bride and groom need to take together
      • Sindoor Daan
      • Ashirvad
  • Step 6: After completing the marriage process, the collection of Arya Samaj Marriage certificate from Arya Samaj Mandir is necessary.
  • Step 7: In the end, to give legal status to your Arya Samaj Marriage; registration of Marriage Arya Samaj marriage at the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) is to be done while fulfilling all the formalities of registration

  1. All the Hindus including Sikhs, Jain & Buddhists can easily perform their Arya Samaj Marriage. They will get a valid marriage certificate from the Arya Samaj Temple. They can go for marriage registration in court after the marriage in Arya Samaj Temple.
